For Bob

My breath caught in my chest this morning as
I woke from a peaceful dream
Suddenly, my world was not so calm
The pounding of the rain outside my window
Matched my heart as I realized why I felt that way
A few hours from then, a friend of mine
Was saying a final goodbye to her beloved father
Tears were present even before I could glance at the clock,
As I thought of the their family
And just what they had to endure today
I promised myself that I would not let today
Just be a day of mourning
But that in my own heart, I would celebrate
What little of that man’s life that I did know
He is not my father, nor my husband, nor brother,
Not even a very close friend….
His kindness towards me lasted for only a few moments
But the impact he had on his family will never fade
So as I write this poem to embrace the heartache of
Those who were close to him
I write to remind every soul
That life is so precious
And God has us all in His hands
Never leaving us.....ever.

Even though our summer sun is gone…. in it’s place, Bob’s light will shine on
*dedicated with love to the Johanson family
and all those who were blessed to have even just one moment of Bob's touch.
May you feel the presence of God embrace you in those moments of need.

YEAH!

My first comment! Thanks Car! :) I was so excited when I saw it....

Anyways, okay, so I'm IN your wedding?!?! That's SO cool! And I realize that I no longer care about tradition when it comes to weddings...you're in mine too! I was worried about having "too many" bridesmaids, but who the hell cares? :) So, you're singing in my wedding and you're a bridesmaid....and knowing me, I'll come running to you for help with the artistic stuff that I suck at :) How's that sound?

I'm off to cook dinner, I'm starving!

Blue Eyes

I love Sinatra.... I'm listening to "Under my Skin".... it's beautiful. Anyways! Waiting for 9pm to roll around so I can watch my reality show weakness, Big Brother 5 :) I've just been hanging around the house today. I woke up majorly congested up and coughing like mad. So it's been a nice lazy day of lounging and helping Carly move some of her stuff out. I'm going to miss her :( It's been so fun living with such a a fun, intelligent and hilarious chick! I'm going to miss her colorful paintings in my hallway, her gorgeous voice floating down the hall.... her humor, her thoughts and her kindness :) Thanks Carly for being so great! :) You will be singing at my wedding, I promise.

Also been watching more of the Olympics.... always interesting and always exciting. I just watched the 1500 Meter Freestyle Swim for the men... and damn, much repsect to all of 'em. 25 lengths of a 50 Meter pool, all the while trying to win... it's nutty.

ANYWAYS! Time to get all comfy to watch my show! Laterz!

Late Night News

I have a question. Why is it that a person is sentenced to life in prison for killing one police officer..... and another person can be sentenced to just 22 years for pre-meditating, horribly tourturing and then brutally murdering 2 people? I get that a police officer is nothing to sneeze at. They put their lives on the line, day after day after day, just to make my world a little bit safer. I respect the hell out of all of 'em.

But who's to say that it's a worse crime to kill one man, over 2 other people, just because he's a police officer? It just doesn't make any sense to me. Things like this happen all the time and we all know it.

Well, obviously I had to get that off my chest :) I feel much better now....thank you. I'll be back on tomorrow....I've had a lot on my mind lately, but not enough time to write.

On a lighter note! I found this today and thought it was priceless :)

Gymnists

Gymnists are the most amazing beings in the world. The fact that someone can flip and twist themselves 5 different ways, 5 times over, all from a standstill on the floor, is beyond me! They have my complete and utter respect :)

(Obviously I've been hooked to the Olympics.... gives me something great to watch while I'm trying to fall asleep).

Nighty night

Breaktime Post

Howdie :) Not too much time here, but here's what's going on!

1) I found a new roommate! Her name is Dayna and I'm sure it's going to be great :)

2) I went to David's Bridal this weekend with a friend who is getting married. I am a bridesmaid in her wedding and we are all going to have our last fitting for our dresses. Well, when I tried on the dress 3 months ago they were going to have to alter it and take it out a couple sizes. Well, to my satisfaction (and a little surpise) when I tried it on Saturday, it fit perfectly! That means I lost two dress sizes in 3 months! WHOO WHOO! I also was in a size 10 Jeans :) I haven't been in that since high school... so needless to say, it looks like walking to work and watching the BigMacs is paying off!

3) I'm gearing up for my trip to NJ/NY to see Erik :) I'm SO excited! A co-worker of mine is letting me use some of her frequent flyer miles to cut down on cost. I just can't wait to see his smile again....

Okay, my time's up! Gotta get back to work.. bye for now!

Good Times, Good Times

Here's just a brief list of reasons why my Tuesday was SPECTACULAR!

1) The first thing I do when I get to work is check my company email. Well, I had an email from my former staffing agent with the temp agency I landed this job through. His name is Jim and he turned into my bestest friend yesterday.....he let me know that because I referred a friend to his agency and she got a job, I will get a check for $50 in the next week, as soon as she completes 40 hours! WOOHOO! Free money! It made my day.... or at least I thought it did, until the next great thing that happened...

2) A co-worker of mine told me that her neighbor is selling his exercise bike for $25! I've been looking for one for about 6+ months now! I'm STOKED! I'm picking it up tonight.... watch out extra few pounds! You're coming off! :)

3) I then was home from work, ready to meet a potential roommate. The interviewing process gets easier and easier each time I do it. And Dayna made it even more easy. She was so down to earth, funny and easy to get along with, that I practically made her an offer to be my roommate! She was pleased and said she'd let me know by the end of the week. I'm looking forward to hearing from her.... good roommate chemistry....

4) And then, to top it all off...I actually got a good night's sleep! I didn't get to talk to Erik last night, though... even though it was only one night, I miss it.... We have such a limited time to talk anyways, I like taking advantage of every min we can get. Baby, if you're reading this, I miss you to bits and pieces!

So, that was my day yesterday... today is starting out well and looking good for the evening. Jen's in town with Dylan and I get to watch him tonight while she goes out to dinner. I'm STOKED! I love the little guy to death... I'll post pics of him sometime in the next couple days.

Gotta get back to work now!

Waiting for the Neff's to come home

Well, I'm sitting in Everett waiting for Kim and Chad to come home from camping. I've been watching their house this weekend while they've been camping with their kids. It's been a nice, relaxing and non-productive weekend :) I watched a whole lot of tv, but mostly the Discovery Channel... it was SO facinating this weekend! Segments on Columbus, Stonehenge, Sharks, the history of the Great Sphynx in Egypt...stuff like that.

Anyways, I wanted to take this opportunity to talk about just how much I miss my boyfriend, Erik. He's in New Jersey going to school for the next 4 months. Now, 4 months isn't so bad. Considering he just spent the last 13 months in Phoenix, AZ...we're really looking forward to being together again. The whole long distance thing is almost OVER! YAH! :) It's kinda funny.... for the first few months after he moved, things were not so bad., a whole lot easier than I imagined it would be. Then the holidays rolled around and I started to miss him so terribly.... went through a time of lots of poetry, tears, lonely nights and emotional phone calls which I'm sure got hard to handle from his end! hehehe

But now, I kinda feel in a nice groove..... of course I still miss him every day, but we're so close to the end now that I've got more excitement in me than ever :) Whenever I start to get down and nostalgic, I remind myself that before I even know it, he'll be back home and we'll be able to actually date again! :) That is....if he gets to a job in the area and gets to move back home.... but that's a WHOLE other story that I don't need to get into right now...

Moving along! :)

A few things that are coming up for me:
*Jen and Dylan (a friend and her newborn) are coming into town on Wednesday! I'm SO excited to see her and see how much Dylan has grown...he'll be just about 6 weeks old and the cutest thing ever :)
*I'm excited for the Olympics to kick off this Friday
*I'm helping my friend, Melissa, on Sat to get fitted for her wedding dress! She's getting married on Sept. 4th.... I'm a bridesmaid and I'm SO excited for it!
*Then I'll be setting up a trip to NJ, hopefully with some assistance from a friend. A woman I work with has been wonderful enough to offer me use of some frequent flyer miles to cut the cost down on my trip. I'm SO grateful and can't wait to purchase my ticket!

Alrighty! I'm going to finish picking up some stuff and hopefully Kim and Chad will be home soon, so I can get back to my place and go to bed :) Gotta get up early!

At Work

Alrighty, I think I may be getting the hang of this :) I'm at work on my lunch break so I won't be able to write much today. It's been a good day, though! I have an interview tonight with a potential new roommate at 6pm. Her name is Larissa and I'm excited to meet her! I have another interview with a woman named Cathy tomorrow, so hopefully both will go well.

I have to get back to work now! Until next time.....

Hello!

My first entry! I feel special :) More to come, I gotta figure out all the features!
